Cape Winds Virtual has experience, knowledge and skills behind the name and it is these that I believe are important to you, the potential client.
I have run my own business before, in recruitment in different fields, and prior to this spent nearly 17 years in the South African Tender Information industry, going from telephone subscription sales, in Johannesburg and Cape Town, through Sales Representative out in the field, to Senior Account Manager & Business Development Manager. The companies that I signed up to the service were as varied as the types of tenders put out by the Private and Government sectors, and I was not one of those people who 'just' sold a service. I knew enough about each company's area of business to be able to assess if they could use such a service and to be able to talk with the clients both intelligently and with knowledge of their business. When I became a Senior Account and Business Development Manager I dealt more with the organisations that put the tenders out; this ranged from small organisations through to the huge mining institutions, and again, covered anything and everything. I had access to technical support personnel, but sometimes did low level technical support myself, and further I also conducted training on our in-house developed software either in groups or one on one.
I have worked in recruitment, both here South Africa and in the UK, and covered specialised areas such as IT & Technology, Finance, Defence, Medical and General, and so on. My client's were also as varied as the fields they worked in, and again, I made it my business to know my client's specialist areas.
Since I am no longer a teenager I have, of course, built up a wealth of knowledge from the different areas of commerce and industry, and the different jobs, that I have worked in over time, both in the UK and here. It is too varied to list here but I have found that it has stood me in good stead throughout my working life, being added to and enriched over time, and combined with my life experience, good general knowledge, being reasonably well read, having eclectic interests and having an interest in research. I believe this is important to you, because it means that whatever work of yours I take on you can be assured that you will not be getting back badly transcribed drivel! I would rather tell you that I do not think a sound file can be adequately transcribed.
In addition, if I work with others in this industry, it is with the knowledge that they are also of a high calibre. I do not believe that intelligent and informed transcription lends itself to a typing pool mentality. I believe you also need to be knowledgeable in many areas, be fairly well read, and have an understanding of the world around you; you need to be able to think outside the box, to be able to adapt, to use common sense and logic and so on - speed is not necessarily everything.
I believe strongly in customer service and one of my strengths is in relationship management, developing long term business relationships with clients by understanding their short and long term requirements in relationship to whatever area of business they are in. I believe in integrity and honesty and this will also benefit you.
And last but not least, I have always typed my own reports, articles, blogs and so on, so that the touch typing I learnt at school did not fade into oblivion! In short, I have remained hands on.
I look forward to doing 'virtual' business with you in the very near future.
